ln1gaw
Hi folks, my first time on this forum and I would like to know how to separate the two handbrake cable ends from the connector as it exits the drum backplate on a Focus mk2. One end from the drum, the other end from the handbrake lever. The two ends are joined by a metal connector and I can't see how the cables detach. Thanks in anticipation
GingerFlame
Basically, when you fit the new cable, you hook the longer cable in the short but coming out of the drum. when you apply & adjust it it pulls further into the connector and clamps itself in effectively. To remove it, slacken off the cable, (chock the wheels or leave it in gear first) and pry the connector apart slightly to loosen it. then slide the two little blocks towards one another into the centre.
