Ford Focus 2002 1.8 TDCi won't start

Came to start my Ford Focus 2002 1.8 TDCi this morning and it won't start.

All electrics are working fine, turn the key and it does nothing.

No attempt to turn over, no starter motor clicking, nothing.

The glow plug/coil/fault light seems to light up quickly for a very short length of time when the key is first turned (before the ignition turn, lights radio etc).

I changed the camshaft sensor about 18 months ago which fixed previous issues of it cutting out whilst driving, but at least with that problem the car would attempt to turn over.

Read about neutral/clutch sensor, a possibility?

Any ideas? I've got a bluetooth OBDII adapter that I've been trying to get a diagnostics reading off but my phone won't connect properly.

I should mention, new battery bought fairly recently!

Electrics are fine though. I'll try jumping it.

Gone into the diagnostics menu, no DTC codes stored.

Here's a couple of things you could try.

1, Remove the starter relay from the CJB (internal fusebox), its the top left relay, turn ignition to position 2 and carefully insert relay, you should hear and feel it click.

2, There should be an identical relay for the Heated rear window, bottom right hand side, try swapping the relays over.

If the relay doesn't click when inserted, its most likely that the PCM is inhibiting it but to go any further you will need a multimeter.

Thanks Dan62. I'll give those a go later.

I've got a multimeter if I need it.

The problem was the starter motor.

A few knocks/taps/whacks and it's starting as normal.

I'd get it replaced but I should be getting rid of the car in about 6 weeks.
