Boot opening problems - fob not working

Hi,

just joined the site to help me with my Focus Zetec 1.6 2002.

Quite early after i bought the car the boot-opening button on my key fob stopped working (the button on the dash doesn't work either). 

Any advice on fixing it? I have removed the plastic fascia from behind the boot to get at the wiring. The 5-pin socket that goes into the boot lock is missing a pin, not sure if it's stuck in its plug, i can't be certain.

Any help or trouble-shooting advice would be welcome. Thanks.
