Fiesta MK 7.5 Facelift Subwoofer Installation Questions

Hi guys. Ive recently been installing a Subwoofer into my Fiesta Mk 7 facelift. Since its a newer car, not much has been written for these. Once ive done it all ill post a thread explaining what the differences are to help anyone out in the same situation. Ive hit a few problems in the process. For a start, the wiring diagrams found for the head dont have any matching coloured wires to that in my car suggesting that ford have changed the colours around. The second problem is the two 12v power cables in the back of the head unit are both more or less constant. Since ford has a stereo that stays on without the ignition, the sub stays on while the ignition is off. would routing the power remote wire to my 12v socket be the best idea? obviously dont want the sub on without the engine. Finally ive got alternator interference which i think I can fix but if anyone knows a quick fix thatl be awesome.

Just tap it in to something like the heated windscreen fuse, that usually is ignition only.

The current Fiesta has been around since end of 2008 so lots of info on it, I've been fitting the ambient lighting system to my dad's new Fiesta.

Thanks for the reply! How come no wiring diagram displays the correct colour for my head unit then? Sorry sort of a novice at car electrics

Hi Dykos. What kind of sub are you fitting? What nominal and peak power output? If it's anything more than 100W then DO NOT USE POWER FEED FROM THE HEAD UNIT. You'll end up blowing it. Feed a suitable power cable from the battery to the subs amp. Use an ignition fed power to the remote power on. Make sure you have a suitable quick blow fuse as close to the battery on the amp power cable. Take signal feed from the head unit no problem.

There are a number of install posts on here. Good luck and have fun.
