Ford fiesta 2013 tyres

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just brought a new car from ford stockport

Ford fiesta 13 plate I have notice to front tyres are bald Abit.

Do I have to buy new tyres or ford??

Cheers guys

The fiesta does eat front tyres! If you got the car second hand from Ford and the tyres are defective go back and tell them about the tyres that they have sold you a dangerous car, they should change them if they are illegal.

Tyres for the Fiesta are about £60+ each

i love how theres three threads with this and 3 people have commented in each :)

depends on the tyres as to the price. ones that are on my zetec s cost from 80-150 each fitted.

as for yourself.an actual depth reading would determine if they are indeed bald. if you havent got a gauge pop a pound coin in the tread and take a pic. if they are under the limit id get on to ford and try and get them replaced. if not. you should get a month or two (depending on meilege and use) before you will have to fork out on a new set yourself

*mods, blend these 3 topics

The primary grooves of the tread pattern are  at least 1.6mm throughout a continuous band comprising: ·    the central three-quarters of the breadth of tread, and ·    round the entire outer circumference of the tyre. Note: Each side of the central band of the tyre can be devoid of tread (i.e. ‘bald’) and still meet the pass standard.

so basically where the wear indicators are should be more than 1.6mm, outside that bald as you like!!

but any decent ford dealer will normally replace worn tyres before sale if they are down to 2mm or less.

what does amuse me that if your car went in for service then the minimum they recommend rises to 3mm , and your told you need new tyres. double standards applying.

2mm on the tyres

For this year car I would think that you wouls have at least a 6 month warranty. You should not have to replace tyres during that 6 months.

Get your tyres checked by an MOT station and see what they say ? You could always demand your money back! That wouldn't go down nice with the Ford dealership.

You ever purchased tyres online ? Save a small fortune!

Have a look through this supplier and look at the prices compared to tyre garages! I was pretty shocked how I was going to be ripped off.

Tyre fitting would be around £20 for all four.

Can I just bring it to your attention guys that there are many 'new' & 'used' tyre garages popping up all over the UK who are being run by foreign so called professional tyre fitters!

Some of these garages are running dangerous business's that they sell illegally retreaded car tyres, not tyres that have had the carcass fully removed and fully retreaded, but new grooves are cut into the rain channels to make the tyre appear to be a mint tyre but it's actually a very dangerous tyre, old tyres even made to look new with paper stickers on them! Only use a tyre garage who you know & trust and not a back street garage that has bargin tyres which may not be a bargin.

You've seen the thousands of car washes being run by foreigners ? Well its the same with these garages. Be careful who you choose!

Warranty doesn't typically cover consumables like tyres,  but they should be giving no less than 2mm tread. If the tyre fails mot,  they sold the car in a condition not fit for purpose which they are liable for.

Most authorities recommend changing tyres at 2mm even though the limit is 1.6mm.   If I were you, I'd take the car back to the dealer and demand my money back as the car is not fit for purpose.
