Lowering springs worthwhile mod?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I need opinions on this, I haven't bought the Eibach lowering springs yet however I have new front shocks ready to go in and I have pre-declared on the insurance for suspension mods.

I am just at the stage where I am not sure if I want to pull the trigger and buy the springs and fit them - basically questioning if its worth it.

As my car is the 1.4 TDCi it will already have the heavier springs etc with the same sort of setup as the ST (as you can get springs for the petrol or the TDCi/ST).

Basically not sure if I should go for them as my drive is 95% motorway etc.

Up to yourself obviously, i'd be questioning all the hassle, work and cost especially on a 2007 car, mods generally don't do much for the value and may even decrease it. From an enjoyment/handling perspective it will be pretty minimal really for 99% of sensible drivers. I think most people who do that sort of stuff are just into cars and like spending money on them and tinkering around to get their vehicle more unique etc which is obviously fine too.

lowering springs tend to just be for that, to make the car sit a bit better on the wheels. so do you want that or are you doing it for some other reason?

I was just looking to sharpen the handling up slightly which is why I would go for the Eibach springs rather than cheap lowering springs. Might just keep it as is, its not like the Fiesta is a track focused car or anything.

Don't think it's worthwhile for motorway driving when, really, you're just driving in a straight line all the time.
