Electric window problem

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, my drivers side window requires me to press the button 5 times to get the window to go up or down, it just goes down in stages rather than one motion, I have tried resetting it by holding the button etc but it has no effect has this happened to anyone else? It's a 2009 (mk7?).

Also the black around my drivers window on the outside has bits missing so you can see the paint underneath, is this just a sticker? If so has anyone replaced it and how much does it cost?

Mechanism may be corroded or jamming. If the motor draws excess current (load too high) then the auto wind down will terminate.

If mechanism is free, then the motor or electronics is suspect, I guess.

Thanks for the reply, I bought the car a few weeks back and I've been doing little repairs to it and this is one of the last problems.  I'll take the door card off tomorrow and see what the mechanism looks like.

I'm in the middle of doing this now, I've taken the door card off and removed the electric window motor which is working fine, now I need to take the black plastic off to access the window mechanism but it won't budge! I've taken the speaker out, electric window motor and all the bolts around the outside but still nothing! Anyone removed this before? All the guides I can find are just related to the door card not the inner plastic. Please help!

Problem solved! I found that if you remove the 2 foam covers and wind the window down there will be 2 nuts 1 behind each foam pad, I wound the window down but it went all the way down in one go so problem solved without having to take the inner card off. I don't know if there was dirt or something between the motor and the mechanism but it's all working now!  Also one touch up & down works but only on the drivers side, is this normal or should the passenger side do it too? I tried resetting the passenger side incase it does have this feature but it didn't work.

Great news. Thanks for the feedback.smile.png

On my car Passenger side does not have one touch up or down. I guess it is for safety, passenger may be young/old & less aware of danger than driver.
