Replacing battery in key fob

Featured Replies

When I put a new battery in my key fob, do I have to reprogram  the fob ? the dash on my car is telling me the battery needs replacing.

No, just replace the battery.   It will work just the same.

There have been reports of keys needing to be re-programmed to the car after a battery change, seems to depend how long the battery change took. But Ford may have improved this.

If there is a problem, the re-programming is detailed in the owners manual (Page 28 in the 2013-2014 Fiesta manual), along with the battery change procedures.

It will only affect the remote lock/unlock function, if it does happen. The key will still start the car.

If you have no manual, go to:  http://m.ford.co.uk/OwnerServices/Owners-Manual

Got it sorted, just a straight swoop of battery, no reprograming needed.

I've changed at least half a dozen batteries in Ford keys.   Never had a problem.
