Power folding mirror HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi all!!

I'm a newbie, have been reading some posts and you all seem very keen to help a damsel in distress!

I've got an 07 Fiesta Ghia, and it seems to have the option for power folding mirrors. When I push the toggle down it makes a click which sounds like a diode or switch working, so I'm guessing there is power there and the movement of the glass works perfectly.

I was just wondering if there was any quick fix or if this is a Ford dealer job, or even a new one from ebay?

I'm asking for a very basic as I'm a little slow

Thanks in advance guys!

I'd assume the click is the relay working

Hi,

I had exactly the same issue a few months ago when I bought my Fiesta; it would click and try to fold in more than it needed to (driver's side) when I locked the doors. I found the following guide online (slightly edited) and it worked, never had the issue again. It took about 10/15 mins in total and I did in St. James Park NCP!

  • Take off the interior mirror control panel and disconnect the loom.
  • Push the mirror all the way forward towards the front on the car.
  • Remote lock the car, then unlock it.
  • Re-connect the loom.
  • Remote lock the car and the mirror should then fold all the way in.
  • Unlock the car and disconnect the loom.
  • Push the mirror all the way forward again.
  •  Remote lock the car, then unlock it.
  • Re-connect the loom.
  • Lock the car and then unlock the car; this time the mirror should only come to the normal open position.
  • Disconnect the loom again, remote lock the car and then unlock it.
  • Push the mirror in to the closed position.
  • Re-connect the loom and remote lock the car.
  • The motor will then catch up with the mirror position and should be back to normal when you unlock the car and then lock it again.

Slightly confusing to follow, but don’t let it put you off - just kinda give it a go/have a play, and follow your intuition. You’ll know yourself when it’s ‘fixed itself’ and everything is back in sync.

Good luck!!
