Fiesta mk6 boot not releasing at all

Featured Replies

Motor is making a noise but not releasing the catch to open the boot. Can anyone help?

If there is nothing obviously jamming it, then you will have to remove the trim panel off the boot lid.

If estate, there are two screws hidden in the hand recesses inside the tailgate, near the bottom. If hatchback, there are two screws at the lower edge. Then in both cases it should just unclip.

Unplug the wiring connector now visible, and the lock is held on by three bolts. It should be quite easy to remove to inspect & test.

If the motor is trying to open it, it may be jammed with dirt, rust, or wear, or even a bit broken off. Should be fairly clear once you can see the motor / latch unit.

Peter.

It'll be a knackered boot popper solenoid, it still opens fine with the key, yeah?

Every Mk6 I've owned (ok, that's only 2 lol) has had the same issue!

Mine stuck sometimes but only because of sun heat ! Need to pull hard then is fine after when using again
