Focus Mk3 Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Hi

I've just finished fitting a new steering wheel on my mk3 focus ST.

I've activated it in the ECU using the FoCCCus software and removed the DTCs with the Forscan software but there's one DTC leftover. (I'm not sure if this is the cause of the issue)

Needless to say that both the cruise module and the other module on the right don't work.

Any help here would be appreciated so I don't have to take it to the garage and no doubt, pay through the teeth for it.

Thanks

looks like you got something wrong with the steering wheel, you have 2 phone switches? is the one on the lower right not connected?

what extra wiring did you buy for it?

  • Author

Both modules are connected.

I bought the wiring loom #FINIS 1801776

Everything's connected ok. Is it just a case of disconnecting the phone module?

Thats the wire, which phone buttons are the original ? The higher one, if it is then disconnect the lower one

Yes, the ones on the airbag are the originals.

I'll disconnect the phone module on the steering wheel and see how it goes.

That should fix it, basically you have fitted steering wheel off an older non sync vehicle that had differnt buttons for phone/bluetooth functions. I managed to find a later steering wheel for mine so was a straight swap and the wiring 1801776 was all I needed. Worked steaight away.

Ah ok. I'll give it a try tonight.

Ok, let us know how you get on.

Hi

No effect I'm afraid.

Disconnected the Phone Module and tried clearing the DTCs again. Still get the same error

Anything else I can try?

Thanks

i tried to remove my airbag tonight to have a look at my wiring, but !Removed! thing was stuck, couldnt unhook it for some reason, and was in a rush, so gave up. lol

i think you will need the correct wire that only does the cruise buttons, think the phone button oposite to cruise is wired in series or linked some way and even unpluged will cause issues too.

  • Author

Ok, do you have a part number of a link for this cable?

nope, thats why i was trying to dismantle my steering wheel, for your benefit.lol and get a number off it.

if i have time i will see what i can find out tomorrow, but dont hold me to it.

Awesome, cheers :)

Sorry for delay, been busy. Right, ive had a look at part numbers for the wiring loom and theres 4 different ones, now I remember wilko jw1982 posted up the part no required, will look at his post and see if his no matches up with 1 of the 4 I got.

1801772 isthe wiring loom from cruise to green plug which should be the right one, simukar to the one you have but without the wiring for the lower phone module. Wilkos is a later vehicle like yours so it should be right.

Fortunatly I got a later steering wheel withbthe correct wiring already .
