ESP waring light

Featured Replies

Hi, newby here. I recently bought a S-Max 1.8 Zebec TDCi from a dealer (not a Ford main dealer), I was really happy with it until I realised that it had a leak of some sort and the ESP light will come on intermittently. I took it back to the dealer and they looked at it and said that the ESP light coming on is a problem with the cable that links the sensor to the disc on the wheel (I'm no mechanical expert as you can probably tell but this is what I understand from what I was told!) They reckon that this is a Ford fault and that the cable is not quite long enough so there's not much that can be done about it other than recentering the steering, which has been done. Since hearing this, I have tested this theory and it does seem that when I put the full lock on, in either direction, the light does come on.

My question is, has anyone heard of this? Surely if it's a widespread fault, it should have been recalled? Am I being 'fobbed off'?

Thanks in advance
