Fiesta Ownership thoughts so far

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd put my views of the Fiesta 'ownership' on here to see what response I get or to convince me I haven't just made a big mistake in going Ford.

I've owned lots of cars over the years (I'm old!) and the Fiesta is only my second Ford, the first being a 1975 Escort 1300E!

I presumed that being the best selling car in the UK it would be a dream to own and drive but alas not.....

1. Stupid wheel nuts, took me ages to remove n/s front wheel as covers are defective so don't allow a 19mm socket to be used, I managed to remove two of the three covers and use 18mm the third I had to chisel off.The only one I didn't have a problem with was the locking nut although all lockers are rusted to buggery and don't look very good! So I popped into the Ford dealer and he agreed they are faulty but said they wouldn't be replacing them FOC and new nuts are £5 each. My leaving comment was I'm going back to a Honda :-)

2. Rubbing sound from n/s front wheel when turning, investigations so far have found nothing that's causing the noise!

3. Very loud cabin noise level coming from rear wheels, suspect its the low profile tyres (why oh why put 45s on a Titanium, an ST/RS maybe) or lack of sound deadening materials?

4. 16" alloys wheels buckle easily (had to buy 2 new ones!) - planning to replace 195/45 with 185/55 when the 45s wear out

5. gearbox bearing whine and car has only done 45k miles

So, not impressed with the ownership experience so far, can any of you convince me to keep the damn thing?
