Wedge Dashcam - Confused!

Featured Replies

Right, as the Mini series off the cards, the only other 'budget' camera that's as small and inconspicuous seems to be the wedge cam.  But there's so many I can't work out what the differences are, of if they're just trying their luck with different prices on the same thing!

Is this the right one, and the right price?  As £50 really is my max budget tbh.

I think that's the one Clive has. I have one based off the same chassis.

Important thing is that it's the A118C, the C being capacitor, much better than the battery version.

Hi Tom this camera is around your budget and gets good reviews for a budget dash cam. Transend Pro drive £ 53.37  might be worth a look

Also Nextbase dash cam 212 from halfords £62.00 less 15% with your halfords discount card.

Got one of these so can vouch for it

The Autovox camera (also known under other brand names) produces a good image and if you fit the optional gps antenna will give you a good amount of geodata when the video is viewed via a dashcam video player.

The screen is pretty small tbf but big enough to see the settings menus and to properly aim the lens.

Cheers Alex.  Might be a daft question but does the capacitor last as long as a battery for date and time?  Sometimes the Focus doesn't get used for 1 or 2 days at a time and the battery always dies on the current dash cam as it's piggy-backed to a switched fuse so as not to drain the car battery.

Thanks Joss, the Transcend was one I looked into but it's still too big for me with the mount really.  I hate anything at all on the windscreen so want something I can hide behind the mirror as much as possible.

I don't have a Halfords card, never became a proper member on here yet, it's only been 2 years!

Cheers Clive.  Sounds good!  Are the other branded cameras actually the same or are they cheaper versions/using worse parts?

Afaik they're just different names.

Just bought an Elephas branded one from Amazon on a 'short term promo' for £33.99.  Will see how good it is. Cheers all, I don't usually make speedy decisions haha!

So the forum favourite used to be the mobius, has that changed recently?

Crikey you have been away a while!

I don't think there is a forum favourite atm, there are a few people recommend now.  I personally don't like Mobius due to the lack of screen, no ready made inconspicuous mount, and it still uses a battery where a few people have said the capacitor is better now.
