Ka not running properly

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new to the site and hoping for some help in getting my Ka running.

I put some fresh fuel in and additive but on tick over is 'popping' but seems to clear under load and returns on rest,

any ideas would be appreciated

Get yourself a cheap obd tester £20 off ebay and plug it into the obd interface it will tell you if there are any faults - its one of the most essential items an amateur car mechanic should havein his toolkit - a garage will charge you £60 a pop just for plugging theirs in and you can do it yourself and save yourself a fortune - its saved me over £500 so far in ripoff garage fees.

Your fault could be one of the lambda sensors, map sensor or fuel filter or ecu its impossible to tell until you plug one of these in or give us some more info.

It could be the ICV or spark plugs - first thing a ripoff garage will do is replace the coil and spark plugs like they think this fixes all manner of ills - you gotta laugh.

If you want to do a quick jobbie then take the icv out and clean it with acetone or carb cleaner and take all the spark plugs out and give them a good wire brushing and clean with petrol. Check the fuel filter its usually a goner on older Kas as is the terrible fuel pump - if you are one of those people who rive their car on low fuel in the tank its the first thing that causes the fuel pump to fail as it needs lots of petrol to cool it down as the internal mechanism spins around the sheath to eject the fuel. Ive ripped open one of these fuel pumps and they are really poor quality and it caused my car all manners of issues - youtube vid coming soon.

omendata you know your not going to get a reply from the newbie for any help you give him

as it dont happen anymore for this reason i feel not like helping any of them with any advice

I find this alot on this forum.
