Mondeo MK4 1.8 TDCI won't start while hot

Featured Replies

Hey, wondering if someone could shed some knowledge regarding my mondeo. It's a 1.8 TDCI 2010. When the engine is cold she starts absolutely no bother, first turn of the key, but once I've driven for a while issues start. The car just refuses to start, will turn over but just won't ignite. Any information and help would be appreciated

Have you seen:

Unfortunately there is no answer there yet, and a different engine (1.4TDCI), but it is the same problem.

The 1.8TDCI is very sensitive to air in the fuel system. Once air gets to the main pump, then it will not start, nor suck the air through very easily. Leaks in the fuel filter or pipes can do this. Though this would normally affect cold starts too. So a good answer remains elusive.

It could well be the crankshaft sensor, have you had an error scan completed?
