Dream to make a proper tdci st

Featured Replies

Well I guess I'm another one who spends years owning a focus and reading these forums without any input until I have something to discus, so I apologise now before I start anything.

I have had a dream. I dream I really wish to come too. A dream maybe someone here will smash to pieces or could make it a reality!  I want to make a proper tdci st. This will involve the 5 cyliners, which to me totally makes and gives the st it's real character. I am talking of the mk2/2.5 here.

I have always wanted an st. Well I tell a lie, an rs, but that's not happening for a very long time. But I have a rather sensible wife and doesn't want to spend 10,000 on an st as our remapped 2.0 tdci isn't a million miles off with 175bhp and 400nm. Which got me thinking.......

I do love our focus and it isn't slow at all, with loads of torque but I want 5 cylinders. So here is the big question . (Not mechanical by the way before I get a load of abuse) Volvo t5 in the St. What about volvo d5 in our focus? I know it's not just stick an engine in and off you go, I'm not an idiot! It probably wont fit or would need a lot of custom work to do so. Button I can't help but feel it really would be great with the 5 cylinder diesel engine in there and with a little bit of tuning could be at the specs of an st???

Any thoughts I need to here. People may have done it, people may have thought about it. I think it would one unique car if it was done.

Thanks for reading guys!

In MY opinion its not worth an engine swap. Just by an ST by time you have spent money on an engine swap. Unless your doing work yourself.

Then you have hassle of changing it on logbook...

Why not just stick to ST styling if thats what you like. I have the 2.0 tdci with a similar power spec and agree its not exactly slow.

Lower it, skirts and bumpers, tint windows if not already. Change grills. Maybe some new rims. Will look bang on for a lot less than an engine swap.

Thanks for the reply paddy. I've decided to agree with you on this one. It will be far too much time, money and effort to pull this off! How ever, I do want as near as the st on the performance side. Not too fussed on appearance at the mo, more performance. I'd be quite happy at 200bhp and hope the extra torque would make me on par with an st. Qustion I guess now is clean I squeeze 200bhp from this lump without injectors or hybrid turbo?

Thanks again for the response
