First Service Booked!

Featured Replies

Booked the First service for my Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost at the end of September. My local dealer - Lookers Ford on York road in Leeds quoted me £199 for the first service which is a bit high in my opinions. Taking it to a dealer near work for a nice £135 instead :-D

Does anyone know whats done at a first service? I'm sure its been discussed many times but searching is proving useless, dunno if £199 was worth it but not wanting to spend that sort of money for a first service

Iirc it's just filters and oil change. Sparks and brake fluid not until service #2

So about £35 in parts and 30 minutes work then?

they did say it would only take about an hour (which is about right based on my old fiesta).

Pretty much yeah genuine parts and branded oil comes to £45-£50 inc vat. Fuel filter adds on £20 (I've got a diesel). My local garage charges £40 for changing the oil and filters and checking over the major things too while up on the ramp etc. He'll also collect from my door and drop it off too on a good day. the main dealer stamp means very little if you  are keeping for around 5 years.

find a local independent you can trust and build up a good relationship with them with you supplying good parts and them doing the labour. you'll save a fortune over the life of the car or however long you have it.

I just do the servicing myself, means I can also check over the car whilst I am doing everything as well, saying that I don't have a new car so I guess that makes a difference - first service will be important anyway as it would be during when the engine is run in.
