Advice for new owner of Fiesta 2013 1.0 EcoBoost

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Long time lurker but finally have joined up!

I've just recently picked up my new Fiesta (2013 1.0L EcoBoost) Zetec, and just have a few questions really.

1. When I am using a USB flash drive via Ford Sync, I am assuming that once the engine is switched off it cuts power to it after a few minutes? Just saves me having to keep disconnecting it, asking because I had a bad experience in my old Focus with my iPod being charged all the time through it!

2. The second question is regarding the wing mirrors, and whether they can be pushed in, I've looked in the manual and online but can't seem to a definitive answer. Looking in the dash menu, there is no option for them to automatically go in once the engine is cut, nor is there a manual button on the adjustment section so am guessing it is a full manual? Only problem is that the wing mirrors do not seem like they want to be pushed in, and I don't really fancy snapping them after a week or so!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

1, I have left my USB stick in all my Fords, not done any harm, shouldn't use power if it's not accessing it. Never actually tried to see if it cuts power though.

2, If you don't have powerfold mirrors then yes you can push them in yourself. You can always check etis to see if it was included from the factory. On a Zetec you'd normally get rear parking sensors with powerfold mirrors, so if you have no rear sensors and can't find the manual override button, you probably don't have powerfold mirrors.

Very good, I'll keep the USB in place!

You know I'm doubting myself now whether it was the Zetec! It doesn't have rear parking sensors and no manual override button so I'm guessing they are your standard! Do you know whether there were any models that did not allow the mirrors to be pushed in, as they do appear very stiff!

Cheers for your help!

If you don't have powerfold mirrors they should just fold, you get grit going under the bit where it moves, so it can tighten it up. Should go though.

My mirrors are the same, even now almost 3 years later they still take a fair amount of force to fold in but they should go without any issue.

I leave my flash drive in permanently and it has never come to any harm.

City pack added power mirrors and rear sensors, if yours doesn't have this then they won't fold automatically

Thanks for all the replies.

It seems they are the manual ones, but did require a lot of force to get them in the first couple of times.

Loving the motor so far, but after only a week of having it a lovely stone has chipped and cracked the windscreen so having to have that replaced on Tuesday

my usb stick has a light on it when its powered. this does turn off a little while after you turn it off

Be careful when you get the new windscreen as fords have quick clear, so a standard windscreen would not work this function.

iv got a quite a sizable chip right in the bottom of the windscreen id better get that sorted next pay day luckily i have windscreen excess on my insurance so im glad cus i bet the ford screens are a lot to replace, unfortunately even i can see autoglass cant fix this one haha
