Factory-fitted Batteries

Featured Replies

I was very surprised to see that the battery on my "new" '06 Focus is half-hidden underneath the scuttle. It's not a sealed-for-life battery as it has the usual six plugs for topping up. The handbook states that battery "maintenance" is done during a service. Now I only do about 6000 miles a year so that's a service every two years and that seems an awful long time for a battery to go without needing a drop or two of distiiled water.

Are the batteries that Ford fits a different breed to the normal lead/acid types?

a lot of the newer fords have calcium batteries fitted to cope with the smart charge system.

The service period for fords is 12,000 miles OR 12 months, whichever occurs first.
