I have a automatic 2001 ford ghia Auii dual fuel. Lately it has been reving up to 4000rpm before changing gears. Need help or suggestions urgently

    How 'enthusiastic' are you accelerating as it will change up later? I also remember my dad had an auto box once and driving it like a pensioner it wouldn't change up till higher up the revs, ended up having it stripped down as there were metal filings in the oil when they changed it. (A gearbox oil change only helped fix it for a couple of weeks!)
