Air bubbles in fuel line

Featured Replies

Hi all,

When doing a service on my 2007 MK6.5 Fiesta, I noticed some air bubbles in one of the fuel lines. I think they're in the fuel line going towards the high pressure pump. Please see the first attached picture where I've highlighted the bubbles. Obviously the bubbles move through the line when I press the priming bulb, but new bubbles seem to be coming in again. Does anyone know if it is normal for these bubbles to be there?

Cheers!
Pietr

The fuel lines will degrade over time, I would check the connections to the fuel filter on the right side of the engine - sometimes the connectors don't fully seal. The diesel is under no pressure in those lines as it just circulates around to the high pressure pump on the left. Are the bubbles constant or just a few every now and then?

a few will be normal

I checked the connections to the fuel filter and they seem OK. I also took a look at the fuel line while the engine was running and the bubbles seem to disappear, so I suppose it is normal to see some air bubbles in this line when the engine is off. Thanks for the replies!

Just keep an eye on it from time to time, a few bubbles are fine, its more of an issue when you have a stream of small bubbles in the line, sometimes the connections don't seal perfectly.
