Hi all, I don't know if anyone can help but I can't find an answer anywhere!.....

I recently purchased an 07 smax with DVD screens in the headrests and player under passenger seat. The screens say "locked", there is the number 10 in the bottom left corner and then the serial number 8M300065

A recent visit to my local ford dealer told me it cannot now be unlocked? Surely this can't be right?

Does anyone out there know if this is true?

    The code has been entered incorrectly 10 times and there fore the radio is now 'bricked'.

    A replacement will be needed.

    Some companies can reactivate the radios but charge nearly as much as a brand new one would be.

    I suggest a trawl of ebay.

    That's insane! What a waste. Thanks for your response, will see what else I can do with it. Swap it out with a universal one maybe?

    Just a note to anyone having this issue, I did manage to get this sorted. There are people out there who can reset these players. The code I had was the correct one but for some reason n the memory the last 2 digits of the 4 digit code had been swapped around. This was possibly caused by a jump start scrambling the memory somehow? So this note is to anyone else out there who finds themselves in the same boat. I read lots of these problems but no one ever seemed to have a solution other than to replace the unit. It can be done!
