Featured Replies

Just got a c max on a 57 all good and happy but the gear lever seams stiff with very little spring in it when flicking lever into nuetual clutch is good and gear box feels ok was wondering if the linkage or bushes are prone to wear and if so is it a diy or garage Wonga to fix oh it's a 1.8 TDCI

I had one of these new and it developed the same fault - The gear linkage is actually done by cable that goes through the Bulk Head, were it goes through is a grommet that protects the cable from the Bulk Head. This grommet has either warn, or fallen off (as in my case) - when this happens the gear change cable now sits on the raw metal of the Bulk head that wears through the outer cable protection and the main cable starts to grind (stick) on the bulk head. Hope this helps - do not know how hard job is as mine was done by main dealer on warranty, but car was in for a day.
