Problem with keyless tailgate and other small issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

I got my Edge at the end of July and I love it. However I made the mistake of taking it into the small car park in Windsor in Dec and did some damage to both doors on a low bollard that I just did not see. The car went in for repair before Christmas, but they can't get the parts as they are on a back order so could be months of driving around like this, such a shame as I want it back to new. Lesson learnt here - don't go to multi story small car parks !

I have the keyless tailgate which has developed a life of it's own. My old Kuga had this with sensors that would stop if there was something in the way. My Edge seems hell bent on crushing anything that is in the way and won't stop even when you try and stop it with your hands. I am scared that it will do some damage to someone - already had a few bumps to the head by it coming down without warning.
I did have it booked in with the dealer  ( after I explained my Kuga had the sensors etc) advised that the Edge is a completely different car to the Kuga so the same systems don't apply! She then advised only warranty work could be done M-F but couldn't fit me in for ages. I must admit after the prang I cancelled the booking and am now re-booking for a new date.
Has anyone else experienced the key-less tailgate working without anyone being near the sensors or keys and not stopping even if there is something in the way?

I would also be interested to know how others get on about the heated seats in the front, I agree they warm up on the highest setting but not to the point that they are too hot, and also my rear seats when you press the button in the boot only the single seat flips down, the double needs a nudge. - Again points I will raise with the dealer.

Happy safe driving all.

Good luck with the repairs, just picked mine up after waiting 2 months for parts!! Still waiting for plastic trim on bottom of doors!

Ive complained to Ford.

As for the tailgate, mine has come down on me twice and has got stuck in the open position!

Same problem as Aussiepom with my rear seats.

My car was due to go back to Fords for a third time since July, baring in mind it's been in a body shop for 2 months!

I have a leaking pan roof that hasn't been resolved.

Im getting fed up of sending e mails, making phone calls etc.

I get my car back today, the steering feels heavy, a warning light for the 'lane keeping aid' has malfunctioned.

Right rear tyre was at 15 PSI and warning lights flashing!

Im really not enjoying this car at all.

Our tailgate has failed to close a couple of times , had to assist it manually. As for the heated seats they dont seem to get as hot as those in the Kuga.

I've noticed the remote tailgate wont latch fully meaning when i try and lock the car i get two horn hoots.  I've tried re-setting the latch to no avail and have to give it a bit of a helping hand when it gets close to closing.

Any one any ideas how to sort this?

My tailgate stops if there's the slightest obstruction.

With the rear seats, I've found that the double one only goes down if the single one has been put down first. I assume it's the same mechanism and the friction with both up is too much with the bigger, heavier seat.
