Fiesta crankshaft bearings !

Featured Replies

Hi all ! I have a little bit o f problem with one of my friend's 2002 december fiesta, engine 1.6 16v FYJA ! He ran it without cheking the oil level, althrough at bends the oil pressure light went on, so he destroied the crankshaft bearings ! I got the assignment to fix it, i managed to rip out the engine, tear it down to pieces, i got the hold of many spare parts needed (inluding between others timing kit, head gasket, oil sump gasket, cranckshaft sealing "orings") Now comes the big problem, i can't find the big end bearings, nor the main bearings :( I've tried to find it OEM, but Ford in Romania supplies only refurbished engines (total cost without the accesories 2000 euro), or a fully assembled engine block (crankshaft, pistons, rings, etc, at 1000 euro) ! Do anyone of you know some aftermarket sollutions ? We can't find :( :( :(

Crumbs, I am surprised you couldn't have done it in situ. Or done it without taking the head off!?

TBH, would have been easier to get a second hand lump and put it in, cheaper, less labour.

Hopefully someone here can help you out with the bits!

Thanks, hope that the main bearings will fit from other models, because for FYJA we can't find :(

It's odd, that the plastic cover of the engine has the inscription DURATEC, and the engine, has on top, written ZETEC SE !

I (we) took the head off, to optimise a little bit the engine's performance (we're gonna fit a free flow catalyst), polish the internal channels of the head, to optimise the airflow, and to clean thurelly the oil channels, as the oil is full of residues from the destroyed bearings :D

A second hand engine is not an option, in my opinion, because you cannot allways know the level of wear, and if the engine was serviced correctly (service history) ! Here, many people do the service checks at home, or at some garrage, not at the dealer (a revision costs very much after the car comes out of warranty, in most of the cases, it's wasted money) but almoast nobody keeps the full record of service history !

So the best option is to rebuild it professionally, to take the crankshaft, rectify it, and put new, other than STD bearings ! :D

So these are for Focus 1.6 16 v (FYDA/FYDB/FYDC/FYDD/ etc)

Wonder if it fits to FYJA, and if the crankshafts are the same. It should be the same, i guess, the bore*stroke of the engine are the same (79*81.4), cubic capacity same (1596 cm3 )

Can anyone confirm this ?
