Chugging engine - CMAX 2004 1.8

Featured Replies

Hello there,

For some time now, i have noticed my Cmax 1.8 Duratec has been running rather rough. I first noted the issue around 6 months ago, where the engine would start to chug at random moments. I didn't really think much of it, up until recently where the issue seems to have progressed. The engine chugging is pretty much constant, and there's a loss of power to the engine, it just about scrapes 5mph up some hills! Also, when the engine is idling, the revs will go up and down. Earlier today, i was driving along and it suddenly starts coughing and chugging, i pulled over and noticed that the orange Engine light illuminated on the cluster. I then turned the engine off, waited for a few moments and then fired it back up again, It seemed to calm down and just about got me home. I'm lead to believe it's probably the spark plugs that's causing the issue, the car has done 105,000 miles. i was just wondering if anyone in here could confirm this, before i purchase a new set of coils.

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Does sounds possibly coil/plug related bit without investigation it would be impossible for me to confirm.
