55 plate 1.8 tdci chain or belt?

Featured Replies

hi first post here, a friend of my partner wants me to change the timing belt on her 55 plate 1.8 tdci cmax, it has the kkda engine could any of you folks tell me if this a cambelt and wet chain engine or a cambelt and wet cambelt setup?

thanks

chris

kkda has a chain for the lower timing. Belt (dry) from fuel pump to camshaft.

It is undefined whether the chain has a specified replacement schedule. Most books and garages say no. The latest Ford spec. says yes (or so I have heard), but I think that was updated in about 2009 when the lower belt came in, and no differentiation was made. Chain breakages are said to be extremely rare.

That's great, thanks for the quick response

Chris

If build date after Feb 2007 I think are all wet belts
