Start problem 05 Fiesta 1.25

My 05 1.25 Fiesta has had a hot start problem for a few months now which has now progressed and will now not start at all (cranks but will not fire). I plan on replacing the crankshaft position sensor tomorrow however,  whilst underneath the car today checking things out I found a loose wire. I'm not sure if it is related to my problems but does anyone have an idea what it is please (on the left, in front of the oil filter)?
