total compression loss

Featured Replies

Hi just been offered a 2.0 mondeo petrol which has lost compression on all cylinders, well down to 20 psi, on all 4 cyl, spins over ok but a bit of a head scratcher that, normally 1or2 pots down if h/gasket failed but new one on me ...any ideas anyone???

140,000mls on the clock by the way

have to be head off for me...pressure test the head....could be the rings...bore wash...does seem odd that all are low...

any other signs?

water in oil?

oil in water?

coolant system pressurizing?

unfortunatly the car is 50 miles away so cant say about the above but i have never come across an engine that loses compression suddenly like this has even if the cam belt snapped there should be one cyl that has some compression unless all valves are bent, and a head gasket failure has never gone across all 4 cyl in my experience so far anyway, possible the belt has jumped a tooth or two but not sure if it's belt or chain driven, leave it me thinks!!
