Whirring noise after engine stopped

Hi everyone,

Not been on here for a very long time but im hoping someone can shed some light on an issue ive come across.

Ive just bought a 16 plate focus titanium 1.0ltr (125Bhp) its done 8000 miles and just had its first service at a main dealer.

The issue:

When i turn the engine off there is a whirring sound coming from the engine compartment. Ive checked the fan and its not running or turning so i can count that out i guess. The sounds seems to be coming from the the engine itself. I turned the engine back on and then off again and the noise stopped.

Any ideas welcome
