Powersteering Fluid Leek.. Where should I start looking?!

Featured Replies

Hey Guys, Mk2 1.6 Ti-VCT with a Powersteering leak. It's only seeping as it's taken 20 days to get low again.

I did try using some of that leak fixing fluid, that hasn't worked it seems.

Question is: Where should I start my leak investigations?

Are there any locations that are susceptible to leaking in the system?

I had little drips then all over my driveway power steering leak.

The clips on the power bottle leak check them.

The union nut on power steering pipes connected to pump are very common and ford now have modified the pipes. Nut is 15 pound and pipes bout 100 plus labour bout 200-250 in total

Ok, I'll take a look in those areas.

Like you I have a few drips on the drive every now and then. And also on the inside of the belt splash guard.

I have had leaks from the low pressure rubber pipe that runs from the fluid bottle to the pump.

It had me foxed for a while since it appeared to come from the pump its self.

So my advice is clean everything thoroughly and remember about that rubber pipe (£25 if I remember correctly) before you condemn anything else.
