Hi guys, 

New to this site so please be patient. I've recently brought a 55plate focus 1.6 zetec climate. So to cut a story short, I had problem with the selector cables. I understand they come as a pair together, they need replacing.

But my issue is I don't know which ones to buy, are they all the same? Some were saying for a certain transmission. It's stressing me out trying to find things online. So I though I'd ask in the best place.

What's the problem with the cables?. on my wife's 2001 focus one of the cables came off at gear lever end as the end fitting was worn. i used some cable ties to get it to stay back on. when we sold the car 5 years later it was still fine. (for the first few months I left the gaiter off in case I needed to get to it quickly if it came off again at a road junction etc but it never came off again)

The plastic screw piece that keeps it in the clip at the gear box end has snapped. I have managed to put it back together but I'm waiting for it to go again. Just can't work out which cables I need. It's the white plastic piece in the photo.
