Focus MK 1 Auto cold and hot Idle speed

Featured Replies

I bought this MK1 Focus in January. Its only done 36000 miles. No problems but I find the idle speed rather high. 1200 rpm when cold and about 850 rpm when hot. The only problem this is causing is continually having to to hold it on the brake. There are no faults in the ECU, I have checked the throttle cable to make sure it is not tight. Any one got any thoughts? or is this normal? Thanks.

I have the Mk II 1.6 Auto and I get the same RPM readings.  At 1200rpm from cold when backing out of my garage it's ***** frightening at times.

I have sent you a personal message.

That sounds normal to me, an automatic will always "creep" regardless of idle, but of course more so the higher it is.  Just hold the brake more when cold to counteract it.
