Snake oil or Teraclean ????

Featured Replies

Hello guys, has anyone used this engine flush ? It's had some really good write ups, they also do fuel additives as well, all with good reviews.

I have a problem with oil disappearing from my engine for no apparent reason. On further investigation I've found that the 1.8 Duratec engine suffers from sticky oil control rings, hence the oil being burnt in the combustion process, this product  " claims" to free up these rings elevating the above problem.

I was told by my good mechanic friend that he has used this product some years ago with very good results, also would a Teraclean sort out this issue, my car has 98,000 on the clock and I have serviced it maticulously since I've had it on 82,000, service before this is a little bit ropey, ( two fake stamp's)

Thanks lads 👍

Anyone ?

I use BG EPR (used to be called BG 109)

fantastic stuff I would highly recommend.

Never used that one before though.  The only thing I would say is that using it on an engine that is pretty manky many cause more problems than it solves.

Cheers Dar' I've just googled that stuff, it looks like the stuff I need, is there any particular reason why you used it. I think I have sticky oil control rings, and looking at the testimonials it works well. Where's the best place to buy it Darren ?

In the old days we would 3ml to 5ml of diesel into each bore and hand crank her over lieve her to sit fo a hour then start her up might get some smoke for a bit but soon clears

Was that a cure for sticky oil control rings ?

yeah worked but that was on older engines not sure if it would work on new ones but can see why not

a company down the south east sells it but I normally just pick it up from ebay.

Ive had my mk 2.5 2.0 petrol terracleaned when it had 48k on it. Now on 53k a yr later. It made a big difference in my opinion. Esp with emmisions and throttle response. Only down side cost me £109
