Dash cam

Featured Replies

i want to have my dash cam wired with constant power so it can use the motion detection .

does the camera need a unit to shut it down when power gets low or just straight power ?

I bought a unit from eBay supposedly it shuts off at 11.6v (however bench testing it shows it shuts off at 11v) - so I'm going to test with some extra resistors to raise it up to 12.2v cut off. My camera does about 2 hours on battery in motion detect and then shuts off.

You can get professional products (power magic pro) too.

You need a constant source (power when car is locked) and an intermittent source (power when ignition on) and an earth point.

You can use dash cam power controls for this like the BlackVue power magic pro. I'm using a Vicovation power plus unit which has a digital display and temperature cut off aswell (more £'s).

I'm new to the Focus so I can't tell you exactly what fuses you need yet, sorry. But something like the horn and air con usually work. Try not to piggyback vital systems like door locks or ignition.

I use the iTronics ITV-80 which has an option for 12.2v which I'm much happier with.

However, its ridiculously hard to get hold of.

You'll need a constant live and an ignition live.  The ignition live is hard to find in the passenger footwell, but on the non-facelift...
