2002 Mondeo Zetec 2.0 Petrol

Featured Replies

HI everyone. This is my first post so please be gentle! I have a problem with my Mondeo which really has me baffled.

I recently experienced a misfire/ judder and did all the usual fixes (plugs, leads, coil pack, Lambda & injectors) but no success... except spending money !

I have cleaned the Idle Air Control Valve, the Throttle Body and the EGR and the only improvement has been a smoother tick-over.

In trying to cure the problem I found another problem in that the Swirl Flaps had started to collapse. I have now removed them all together but I don't think the problem is associated with the Swirl Flaps.

The main problem with the misfire/ judder is poor start-up from cold which lessens as the engine warms up and up to 2000revs. When the engine is stinking hot the problem only seems to be between 1500 and 2000 revs. Above that the engine is really smooth and there are no codes showing. The mileage is around 85000miles and I'm using 5/30 oil.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
