Possible bad earth

Featured Replies

Had a search but it brought up a lot of stuff,

Basically if I have anything plugged into the 12v socket or the one in the arm rest cubby box I loose 95% radio reception on all bands, I'm assuming there's a bad earth somewhere is this a common/ known problem ?

Cheers

For what car? Your profile says you don't own a Ford.

whenever i put my car into reverse , i get bad radio interference.

i put this down to multiple circuits sharing the same negative earth wiring which creates electrical noise.

i'm fairly certain that connecting a  dedicated "clean" earth from the vehical chassis and bolted onto the stereo casing and / or the roof aerial  connector above the front courtesy light will cure the problem but as yet have not had time to implement this modification and prove my theory.

i wouldnt be surprised that something very similar is happening with the OP's radio reception
