2010 1.6 TDCI turbo issue

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Searched a few topics and can find similar threads but nothing quite like the issue I currently have.....

Engine light was on for a few days and in some sort of limp mode I guess as there seemed to be no turbo kicking in at all. The engine would freely rev though.

Thr he light engine light has now gone off but now the car seems to run fine for approx. 15 mins of driving and then again the turbo just doesn't seem to be kicking in, but still no engine light.

If the car is then turned off for a little while and then driven again I get the same thing, drives fine then seems as though the turbo then fails to kick in.

Had it in a shop who plugged it in and got some of the fault codes off it, P0490, P042F, P2195. Thinking this suggests that it's something to do with the EGR valve but would this give these symptoms?

I have only only bought the car recently and worried if I get a new EGR valve the turbo issue may still be there. Or I could return the car and look for an alternative.

Thanks in advance!
