Coolant leak

Featured Replies

Hi,

Have had a coolant leak for around a week now. Looking for any help to diagnose the problem part.

Its a dribble if anything, no puddle under the car. Have had the undertray off and that had a fair bit of liquid on it. The lights I've had off for a view behind the radiator, no signs of splits or leaks.

The bit where it's dripping from is the bottom of the intercooler where the foam is directly under the fan at the back.

Have attched some pictures. The only possible leak I could see is the oil filter but that doesn't explain the orange coolant! Plus I'm not sure if that's normal for an oil filter.

thanks for any help starting to really bug me.

Had a similar issue recently on mine (they found it during the service), didn't take the tray off so couldn't tell you exactly where it was coming from, but it was a little damp on the tray. They replaced the water pump and the problem has since been fixed.

A mate of mine had this and it took them ages to find it! In the end they used some sort of coloured solution and just followed the trail of colour to find where the leak was.

i had a water leak on my fiesta. could not see where from so i put some radweld in it. every now and then the radweld would let it leak again, but at least the redness of it left a trail so I could see it came from the plastic thermostat cover (1.6tdci) so maybe use radweld and not a special dye.
