Wires found in boot, what are they?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I've discovered some wiring behind the carpet on the drivers side in the boot, does anyone know what they're? Can I add some awesome gadgets using these wires? :D I tried to get a photo!

Wiring for the reverse sensor module, personally I think it looks cleaner with a camera in the boot handle instead of dimples on the bumper,

Here's some guides may help if fitting a reverse camera:

Lenny, I was attempting to follow your guide for fitting an additional 12v socket in the boot, how ever I don't have a Orange plug, I do have the black one (seen in the photo). Do you think that's the power lead?

I'll get my multi meter on it. If that isn't a power lead, are there any other wires in that area which I can piggyback power off? Thanks

If there's not one there then the only option is to run one from the battery or the centre console,

It takes a large diameter of cable to provide the 25Amp required by a 12v socket, using any lesser gauge of cable would overload the cable causing excessive heat build up and possibly fire.

I do have a power cable I used in my old sub, I think that should be thick enough haha

Surly would either 8AWG or 4AWG just fit a 25Amp fuse

Cheers mate, I think I'm going to do it. Handy when you've got a fridge in the boot for a long trip
