Brake calipers

Featured Replies

Hi

I am thinking of fitting a set of refurbished front calipers to my mk2.5 focus how involved is it to bleed the brakes again I suppose you need to remove the cover that is in front of the windscreen to gain access to the master cylinder reservoir? Are they a pain to bleed?

Thanks in advance

I think there is a function to bleed the brakes via Forscan (using the ABS module), however, if you're not introducing air into the rest of the braking system I can't imagine it being more involved than normal?

Thanks Ted

I am a little apprehensive about plugging in to using forscan as never used it before and I am worried about it all going wrong me and technology do not go hand in hand lol

Its easy man. I changed both fronts on my mk2.5 few mth back due to sheared bleed nipples. All id say is wjen removin brake line from caliper clean any rust off 1st n use a gd quality spanner to undo it. Bled whole system. Remove wiper arms, plastic cover then removes.. just unscrew cap and bleed as normal. Personally i removed old fluid outta reservoir 1st so i werent pullin loads of old stuff through.. took bout 1 n half to 2 hr all in inc swappin calipers.. did clutch fluid same time too n that turned out to be filthy!!
