Steering wheel locked even with the engine on.

Featured Replies

Just noticed that when I turn my engine on now, the steering wheel seems to stay locked for some reason. MK7 Fiesta Zetec 1.4 TDCI. I haven't touched the car in a couple of weeks (i'm 16 so can't actually drive) so I don't see what could have went wrong. Can someone please help?

When you've been turning they key, if there has been resistance have you turned the wheel slightly, or have you ever forced the key anyway? Have you tried another key?

To get the key barrel to turn to start the engine but for the steering lock to stay engaged, on a normal model sounds like the mechanism between ignition barrel and steering lock is broken.
