Break light come on & speedo

Featured Replies

Hello, I bought my little 52 plate Fiesta a couple days ago as a first car. And my speedo doesn't always seem to work until I've been driving a bit? Also I have had my brake light come on, but fluid and breaks feel fine? Is this a common problem they have ect?

Hi Paige,

The brake light coming on, if you apply and release your handbrake, does the light flicker or turn off? It may be a faulty handbrake switch, or it could be a fluid level switch if the fluid level is indeed ok.

XD the joys of old cars, this seems like sort of car they buy on top gear as one of their challenges. I take it you didn't buy it from a dealer, otherwise you have 30 days to get a full refund. Speedos are awkward to diagnose, have you tried obd2 scanner?
