New gearbox issue?

I had my gearbox replaced today, drive it about for a while (sensible speed and revs of course)..  I got home and while I was sat on my drive decided to try and engage second.

 

It felt like it started to go into gear but didn't go any further, and when I released the clutch it popped out. 

 

I went down the road a bit, stopped and it did the same thing.

 

It hasn't happened when moving yet.

 

Is this normal for a new gearbox? Could it be where it's wearing in?

    could be that the gear change cables (two of them from gear lever to gearbox) are not adjusted quite right
