1.0 ecoboost cylinder head bolts question

Featured Replies

Hi guys anyone know if you have to remove the cams to get to the head bolts?? Or do the cams stay in place.

Yours sincerely Steve Evans

cams out.

Think the head design is similar to the sigma engine cams out.  Do you have the tools to time the engine up before removing the head.

You can get the timing tools if you have a spare£500

sealey do a kit for £408 so that'll leave some room for many much needed tea bags and packs of biscuits lol

A secondhand engine will be between £750 and £1k I would just  find the cheapest working engine and put it in personally.   The engine itself shouldnt be hard to change but a reckon the wiring loom will be a ball ache.

Wiring harness is easy enough.

Like I said before, contact a ford dealer and discuss the situ but don't say you bought it as a non runner.

And a torque multiplier to undo /tighten crank bolt. Even with that it's tight! Lol

Hello everyone thanks again for your help

The engine will be out by this time tomorrow and on the stand.

Found a set of timing tools for £250

Seems to be be pointing to the head is cracked.  The engine sounds sweet.

Do you have to remove the VVT pulleys to get the cams out?? Or do they come out with the cams??

So what's the story with the bottom pulley

Is it possible to remove it with a power bar and extension pipe??Thanks for all your help guys.

Yours sincerely Steve Evans

Why don't you just buy a Haynes manual? They're not perfect by a long way but should answer most of your questions and list the torque settings you'll need for reassembly, assuming the engine's repairable.

Haynes defo the way to go as you will need all the torque settings.  The torque settings are crucial to an advanced engine like the ecoboost.  Head bolts are usually loosened in spiral fashion.

All ready bought one mate locking tools on the way. I'm new to the 1.0 ecoboost engine.  give me a psa dv6 or prince engine and I can strip and rebulid them with my eyes closed lol

I think it's best to get as much information as possible before I start to strip the engine tools etc.
