Mk3.5 horn

Featured Replies

My st line has only one problem the horn is dreadful can I simply fit a set of twin horns(high/low)or do I need to go through a relay to protect the horn button from burning out it's contacts ?

I don't know for sure but I thought the horn already had a relay, have you checked?

Not yet just thought I'd ask incase someone knew

relay in battery junction box, fused with 15amp fuse.

Are you sure it's not faulty?  When I used to have a weekly hire car for the commute from Barnsley to Milton Keynes (often a MK3.5 Focus) I regularly used to use the horn to voice my displeasure at the driving of most Audi and BMW drivers! :whip: The horn always sounded pretty decent, unlike the Hyundai i30 which sounded like a little noddy car "meep, meep".  No chance of me daring to beep anyone in one of those crates.

im sure i read somewhere that later focus had 1 horn instead of 2 and wasnt a missbuild .

Don't know why they decided to only fit one horn as it's sounds dreadful that's why I want to fit twin horns just need to know if it needs a relay.

wont need a relay as long as current draw isnt more than 10amps or there abouts

2 horns on the Mk2.5 - Still not a great sound to it though. Fit air horns is your best bet - usually with a relay bit if there's one fitted should be okay to use that one.

Thanks for all your help air horns would be the perfect answer lol

air horns will need wiring via another relay as normaly they have current draw of 30amps

if a want a really "manly" horn THIS is what you want  Train horn on a car (Prank Compilation)

There are similar compilations on Youtube where people take it a lot better than the people in the clip linked above, it's juvenile but I have to admit I find it hysterical with the people just sat eating a burger or walking along the street, before nearly jumping out of their skin.

The horn on the Mk2.5 is still far better than average IMO.

Anyone who thinks the horn is pants on a Focus (any model...assuming the horn is working correctly) really should try an Hyundai i30 or Kia Rio (an model from the last 10 years will do), it really does sound like there is a midget version of Road Runner under the bonnet when you press the horn.

Generally the asian cars (korean/japanese) seem to have ***** poor horns. Even the larger (SUV) models of some of them have pathetic horns.

Even other european hatchbacks can be crap - e.g. horn on Astra Mk6 is rubbish, so is Citroen C3.
