Do you know if your car is the 113 BHP version i.e. the one with VCT or the 98 BHP one?

Have you had the battery out? (The computer resets if you do). When did you last change the air filter/plugs?

Do you do short trips/drive with the air con on/accelerate hard before changing up a gear? Only asking as I have an 08 plate 1.6L 100ps driving 7 miles to/from work daily and just now I’m getting 35.2 mpg. (It gets up to around 38-39 on a 300 mile trip down the M6 to Wales though)

The 98 BHP version is also a bit gutless so if you're the type of driver that likes to "make progress" you'll be working the engine quite hard, which will significantly impact MPG.

Yeh i do short trips too and from work about 5-6 miles away. tomorrow I'm looking at getting new oil, fuel, air and pollen filter also new leads and spark plugs I'm also gpoing do and oil change and try some redx in there as I think that will defiantly need cleaning out.

mine is about the same, Ive already done a complete service. air filter, oil + filter, plugs, leads. even done all the brakes, rear drum cylinders, brake fluid and power steering fluid. highest ive ever gotten my mpg is 27.
