Air Con Fan Problems

Featured Replies

I have a clicking sound when driving and I have been told that it is the air con fan and that it needs replacing. When the air con is switched off the noise goes so I assume that it must be the fan, however, it has been replaced twice with a second hand fan that has not solved the problem, so could there be another reason for the sound?

The clicking noise you here when the AC is turned on is normal . It’s the AC compressor clutch clicking in and out .it clicks in to build up gas pressure in the AC system then when pressure is correct it will click off  .. this is not a fan noise

Is it a constant sound, or just intermittent?

Intermittent "clunk/click" sounds will happen and most noticable at idle and a standstill, your revs may increase slightly, and this is just the AC clutch kicking in and out.

If it's a constant noise then it may be the internal fan, or some debris in the internal fan.
