Mk3 1.6 Zetec tdci Knock Noise From 1st To 2nd Gear

Featured Replies

Good morning everyone, I hope you are well.

I have noticed a small knock noise as i switch the car from 1st to 2nd gear. The noise happens almost instantly and before I lift the clutch. It is just a single knock but i happens almost every time. I had a Google around and I have read that a similar noise is normal, but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this or has any thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

I sometimes hear a small knock but it depends on how im shifting if taking it easy I hear it, if I'm giving it a good launch the nothing, but all I can suggest is when changing don't change too fast. It's nothing to worry about I've had mine checked by a mechanic friend of mine and his Volvo even does it.

That sounds good to me Ryan thank you. I have done the same thing, if i give it some, then i don't hear it, it only seems to be when i am driving 'conservatively'.

Thank you for that though!
